About Me

Hello! I am so excited that you're here!

My name is Whitney:

Wife.

Mom.

Teacher.

Photographer.

I have always enjoyed taking photos. Growing up, you could usually find me "manning" the family camera. My mom bought me my first digital camera when I was in middle school. It didn't do much, but it scratched that photography itch for a while. Then, in 2010, my husband bought me my first "big girl" camera. I wanted a baby. He said I needed a hobby. That's when I REALLY started to get interested in photography. Then, in 2014, my principal approached me. I had just finished my teaching credential (in history), but no history teaching positions were open. She said, "Whitney I know you like photography. I have an opportunity for you." She offered me the "Photo teacher" position and I never looked back. I have been teaching Photo for almost ten years, and taking photos whenever I can. Photography is my passion and my outlet. And even with THREE kids, I can always find time to pull out my camera and capture those memories that bring joy.

When I'm not photographing something...

you can usually find me "momming." My children are my life's greatest work and my forever FAVORITE subjects. They are pretty sick of having my camera in their faces, but can you blame me? Look at those PERFECT faces!

My "Gear"

My main "set up" is a Canon R6 and my favorite, go-to lens is a Canon RF 50 mm 1.2. I find that this combo creates the beautiful, creamy backgrounds of my dreams. I mix this "dream team" up with other lenses and bodies, but I find that I always seem to gravitate back to my tried and true!

My "Philosophy"

I am here to capture the natural interactions between you and your loved ones. While most people gravitate towards the "Christmas card" photo (perfectly posed with everyone looking at the camera), my favorite images are the candids. The ones where you are just having fun with your people. Where you forget that there is a camera there. THAT'S when the magic happens. But, don't worry...I'll give you a mix of both. The posed and the natural. Because why NOT have the best of both worlds?
